If you choose to try to work this out, then the only way is to get him to understand that he HAS to talk to you calmly and rationally. You have to do the same. Every time he blows up, you can't react in the same way. You have to keep a level head. You have to dictate the rules of arguing to him. Then stand up for it. If it requires that you tell him not to call until he can speak to you rationally, then do it and give him space. But you have to explain this to him, explain why you are not speaking to him, and leave the door open for him to contact you when/if he is ready to speak to you like a human being again.
