I'm looking in the future and seeing myself dating again (or atleast trying to). I have a chronic illness, one that doesn't necessarily affect my day to day living and well being, but one that has the potential to get worse at any point and affects the possibility of me ever having children again. (I'm in my 30's with one child). Overall, I am fairly healthy, have a great job, masters degree, live on my own, and think I would have a lot of great qualities to offer someone BUT it is causing me a lot of anxiety about how to approach my illness with someone that I would be dating in the future. I realize it would be a dick move to pursue her friend, and I don't want to get in between either of them. I'm almost 60% sure the girl that I was suppose to be "meeting" wasn't all that interested but could tell she was being nice still, but I could be wrong. My gut is telling me to just let this go-it's not worth hurting this girls feelings, but I was really digging her friend and would like her number. About six months into our dating, I made clear to him I was tired of all the talk about his ex and he pretty much stopped, except for indirect references to their travelling. (He has a double standard though, he won't let me talk about anything of other guys I previously dated.) He did say that he thinks first loves are magical and you never forget them, but says that "objective circumstances" are the reason why our first year was not as special as him and his ex's first year (after we started dating, he had mono for six months, and then was injured in a car accident).
